Board Chair at Herbruck's Poultry Ranch earns Egg Producer of the Year Award

SARANAC — The board chair of Michigan’s largest egg producer has received national recognition. 

Stephen Herbruck, board chair of Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch in Saranac, received the Egg Producer of the Year Award from United Egg Producers. Herbruck received the award for his efforts in sustainability and animal care, according to a news release. 

United Egg Producers is a cooperative of farmers working to address issues affecting the agriculture community. Herbruck received the award during the United Egg Producers annual banquet Wednesday, Oct. 12.

“I am so grateful to receive this honor from United Egg Producers,” Herbruck said. “At Herbruck’s, we’re deeply committed to our values — people, planet, product and prosperity — and it means a lot that these efforts are recognized in our industry and can be a guide for others as they work to improve our industry and the environment.” 

Herbruck joined Herbruck’s in 1972, serving as the company’s president from 1994-2016.

The Egg Producer of the Year Award is given “to an outstanding individual that has demonstrated excellence and leadership that has significantly impacted United Egg Producers and the industry in a very positive way,” according to the release.

“We were honored to present this award to Stephen Herbruck and to recognize his tremendous contributions to our industry,” said Chad Gregory, president and CEO of United Egg Producers. “Stephen and Herbruck’s is an example of the positive impact that sustainable practices, sterling animal care and dedicated employees can make in the egg industry.”
