WASHINGTON - The U.S. Capitol Police said that after a Capitol worker brought a pistol in a bag into the building on Thursday morning, a shelter-in-place appeared in the Longworth office building.

The incident occurred around 7:40 in the morning when officials at the Longworth Building found a pistol in a bag passing through a security X-ray system.

The following is the timetable of the U.S. Capitol Police:

Jeffrey Ols Brooks, 57-year-old logistics manager of the Chief Administrative Office of the House of Representatives, told officials that he had forgotten that the gun was in his bag.

The USCP announced the establishment of a shelter and regarded the incident as a "security threat inside the building."

They ask people to perform the following actions before clearing the incident.

• Move into your office or the nearest office. • Bring emergency equipment and visitors. • Close, lock and stay away from exterior doors and windows. • If you are in a public place, find a place to hide or find cover. • Keep quiet and mute electronic equipment. • Once you arrive at a safe place, please contact your OEC immediately. • No one is allowed to enter or leave the building until the USCP instructs. • If you are in a building outside the affected area, stay away from police activities. • Wait for further instructions.

According to DC High Court documents, officials detained Allsbrooks. The document stated that the crime scene technician came to the scene and "found a black...Glock 19 9mm pistol." According to the document, investigators found that the gun "contained 14 bullets in a 15-round magazine."

Court documents show that Allsbrooks did not have permission to carry guns in the school district. However, according to the documents, Allsbrooks does have a hidden license for shipment from Virginia.

Allsbrooks was charged with carrying a pistol without a license.

The police are continuing to investigate the incident. According to court documents, Allsbrooks was taken to the DC Central Cell Block prison. On Thursday, he was released after submitting no plea in court. His next court appearance is in February.

The U.S. Capitol Police did not comment further after releasing the updated schedule of events on Friday.

WUSA9 asked a security expert how to get a security guard to find a gun in an X-ray image within four minutes. A person with Capitol Hill experience said that it should be faster than four minutes, but without knowing the flow of people and luggage backup, "it is difficult to make a call."
