NEW BOSTON, Texas – Tension in the courtroom was evident Wednesday as jurors in the capital murder trial of Taylor Parker heard testimony on social media posts about the victim's excitement of having a baby along with 911 calls on the day of the homicide Parker is accused of committing.

And once again, the courtroom was packed to hear testimony about the Oct. 9, 2020 death of Reagan Simmons Hancock. The pregnant woman was killed and her baby cut from her womb.

Parker has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

Among the witnesses were two store employees who verified camera footage from their stores that placed Parker in the vicinity of Hancock's house on the morning of her death. Then Texas DPS Special Agent Eric Estes confirmed social media posts made by Hancock in the months leading up to the homicide, where she shared sonogram photos of her unborn baby girl and talked about the excitement of the upcoming birth.

A neighbor and her mother testified they noticed Hancock’s puppy was out of the fence on the morning of her death. The puppy was wandering alone, and the garage door was left open.

The mother and daughter knocked on the garage entry door after putting the puppy back in the fenced-in yard. They called for Hancock and didn't get a response. They also noticed the door was somewhat ajar.

Before prosecutors got ready to play the 911 calls, Judge John Tidwell told those in the audience what they were about to hear might be difficult for some. He warned against any outbursts or suggested leaving the courtroom during that time. Several chose to exit the courtroom and wait outside.
