Special to the Winchester Sun

On November 16, the library reopened the Rose Mary Codell Brooks meeting room for groups gathering here before the COVID19 pandemic.

In the future, any group that has been authorized to use the library meeting room can call to schedule a meeting. If your group is not authorized to use the meeting room, please come in and fill out the meeting room use application. Do this before you plan to schedule a meeting, as it may take a few days for the application to be authorized.

Please note that the meeting room is not open all day. The meeting room opening hours are: Monday to Thursday, 9 am to noon and 2 pm to 7:30 pm. Friday afternoon 2-5 pm. Saturday 9 am to noon and 2 pm to 4:30 pm. The room is not available on Sundays.

Any reputable groups encountered each week before the pandemic are welcome to do so again: quilting, carpet prostitutes, twelve-step groups, academic or church learning groups/worship services. Individuals who need a quiet study area are welcome to use this room in their free time, except Monday to Thursday at 2 noon, Friday from 9 am to 2 pm, and Saturday from noon to 2 pm. There are no large meeting rooms for quiet study on Sundays. Readers who need a quiet study area on Sundays can go to the library information desk and log in to the local history room.

Conference participants can use the conference room kitchen, provided they clean it themselves (as usual). The plan must end at 7:30 pm until further notice to give employees the opportunity to close and set an alarm. If a group changes the table and chair layout of the meeting room or takes additional chairs from the locker, it must restore the original table and chair layout at the end of the meeting and put all the extra chairs back into the locker.

Customers are advised to wear masks when using them in the meeting room. Hand sanitizer/soap will be provided. Until the county and state are in the COVID yellow zone and the risk is minimal, exercise programs (yoga, stretching, etc.) will not be arranged in a large room. For more information, please call the library, 859-744-5661, ext. 110, or send an email to john.clarkbooks@gmail.com.

Some library-sponsored programs will be offered in December.

Pageturner's Book Group will meet at 11 am on Monday, December 13th to discuss "The Family Upstairs" by Lisa Jewell, the master of "Creepy Suspense" (character). This is a story that cannot be looked away from, telling the story of three entangled families living in a house with dark secrets. Copies can be obtained at the circulation desk. When you check out, you will be registered to participate.

Reference librarian and Facebook star Angela Turner will host two live adult production and holiday craft workshops in December.

The first Make and Take will be held in the Codell conference room on Sunday, December 5th at 2 pm. Register before Wednesday, December 1st.

The second show will be held on Thursday, December 9th at 2pm. Register before Sunday, December 5th.

The projects will be similar to those shown by Angela in her popular Facebook video "Let's Create: Adult Arts and Crafts." (Posted every Thursday at 10 AM. Archived on the library's Facebook page.)

All necessary ingredients will be provided for assembly. If you want to participate, please call 859-744-5661 and ask Angela.

Happy December. I wish you a pleasant week.
